Each year, the National Coffee Association of the USA publishes their report on National Coffee Drinking Trends. The report has become one of the bibles of the coffee industry. The 2008 report has recently been made available, and the NCAUSA web site gives a brief summary of what the organization has found out about how we Americans like our coffee. Here are some highlights from the 2008 Coffee Drinking Trends report:
The pulled pork sandwich is one of the famous categories in sandwiches for non-vegetarian lovers. Pork is pig̣€™s meat and in making the pulled pork sandwich, usually the meat of the pig̣€™s shoulder is used as it has lots of fat. The pulled pork sandwich is usually a favorite dish for the winters. It is warm and spicy and can be enjoyed during the winter season. It is a slow cooked dish and takes lot of time for its preparation.
About two years ago, I started the Cook for Good experiment as a response to the Food Stamp Challenges so popular that summer. Good people working to end hunger and strengthen sustainable food systems were trying to eat on a dollar a meal ̣€¦ and failing miserably. One congressman in particular formed the chorus for this song. He approached the Food Stamp Challenge in a slap-dash, center-aisle way, with his aides throwing in two-ounce bags of coffee into his cart. When airport security seized his stash of peanut butter and jelly, he was looking at thirty-six hours with nothing but corn meal. He wound up cheating by eating bags of airline peanuts.
